Review: Scattered Thoughts

Scattered Thoughts Scattered Thoughts by H.D. Kelley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The twists and turns were unexpected and I love that. I did get a Fifty Shades feel from it, though it was definitely a different story-line!

When Isabella receives a package containing pictures of her husband with another woman, her whole world starts to fall apart and she struggles to keep in control. She is plagued by nightmares that feel so real. Nightmares that she can barely remember... except for the smell... alcohol and cigarettes.

The one place she still feels like she has a semblance of control, is her job. That is, until she meets her new client, Alec Payne. He is a wealthy business man who is used to getting his own way. He doesn't like to be challenged, and quickly shows her that he will not accept anything other than his way.

The relationship that develops between Izzy and Alec is a battle of wills. Things in her personal life escalate and Alec finds the need to protect her at all costs, including her sanity. Everything has changed. Why is this happening to her? Who can she trust?

About halfway through, I found it did drag a little, but that was mainly because I wanted to find out answers. I had to keep reading so that I could get to the bottom of what was going on.
At times I felt like the relationship between Alec and Izzy was a little too intense, and I found it hard to understand how someone so strong-willed could flip-flop around on her emotions and decisions. I wanted her to stand up to him more.

Overall, though, it was a good read.

Isabella James is an Issues and Reputation Manager who has earned success solving problems... other people's problems. Then a package arrives that changes everything. Izzy comes face-to-face with her biggest issue yet-Spencer, her husband of nineteen years, is having an affair. The stress of Spencer's betrayal proves too much and manifests itself in the form of nightmares. At least Izzy thinks they're nightmares.

The once controlled Isabella James' life is unraveling. When she meets her newest client, Alec Payne, their relationship quickly crosses the bounds of professionalism and Izzy finds herself in an all-out battle for control over her life, her body, and her heart.
